Coach's Corner - Summer 2016

It has been almost 10-years since I chose to be consistent about taking efforts to positively effect my fitness. Back in 2007 I was turning 40 and going down-hill fast. I am grateful to have found a way to stay engaged in my fitness. While it is a challenge, Beachbody has continued to make it enjoyable to work on my fitness and the benefits in my Life have been more than I could have thought. So while I have been managed to stay consistent "staying in shape", as your support coach and hopefully friend, I still long to be better and express my, with Tammy my wife our desire to help you.
Below is a video (here is the URL: Enjoy your Summer w/ Fitness ) I shot to explain some tools to help you stay with (or start) your exercise and fitness.

Coaches Corner - 10/6/15

What is your Challenge & Energize review

Focus T25 - challenging each other
We have 3 others joining us in our Focus T25 challenge for the next few months. How are you doing? We would enjoy being accountable to even more of you. Tammy and I often use the Energy and Endurance product before our workouts (usually only 1 scoop which is a 1/2 dose). Recently I tried the new Energize at a full dose which for this product is 1 scoop. See my review below for information. Also Tuesday, Tammy shared her heart about what it means to face a challenge. I wanted to repost it here and encourage you to ask yourself what challenge are you facing? Will you come out better for it in the other end? (T25 Review)

Words from my wife...Stop Wallowing (Tammy's post
We are on day 2 of our Autumn T25 challenge but I am undertaking another challenge this season as well. For me fitness is the easy part. I love to workout, the tougher the better. I'm kind of intense that way. I can see and feel the effects mentally and physically. However, the greater challenge is my day to day attitude toward home and family. We are in a rough season that has been pressing, discombobulating and just plain hard. It has torn me down and I want to be built back up. I want to be "good" when someone asks how I am. I want to rise above my emotions and experience a free life again not the oppression I have been under. I am making it my Autumn challenge to stop wallowing in the difficulties. To focus on the the little good things that happen everyday and pray when they don't. So I ask you, what's your challenge? Is it your health? I can help, send me a message. Is it home? Is it family? Is it something else? Then let's journey together. I will hold you up in prayer.

Energize review

(Note Additional Drink Information found here - Drinks: Recovery, Protein and Shakeology)

The short review, is this one is probably not for me. I had tried it before, at 1/2 scoop and it was fair. I tried a full scoop today and experienced the tingling from the Beta Alanine that is expected. This reaction is normal as stated in the "Watch this video" link about the science of the product. I may try a reduced dosage again, but I did not like the feeling. Beta Alanine is a great endurance substance and the supplement is state of the art, but it may not be for me at this time and for the Focus T25 routine. Many may not mind the tingle, but for me I will be returning to 1 scoop of the Energy & Endurance for the pre-workout drink. With either product it is key yo start your workout within 5-10 minutes for us, or we feel a bit anxious (Tammy and I do not have caffeine in our normal diet.) Below is information about Energize.

What is the science behind the Energize formula?
Watch this video on Energize.

What can cause a tingling sensation while using Energize?
Beta Alanine, an amino acid naturally occurring in the body, elevates levels of the protein carnosine.

Is the tingling sensation normal?
Yes. The effect will subside with the onset of exercise and with continued, regular use.

Was tingling taken into account when calculating the dosage?
Yes. The Energize dosage of 800mg is shown to be the most effective while keeping tingling to a minimum.

What is difference between the Energize and E&E formulas?
E&E was developed in 2010; Energize is the best energy formula according to current scientific consensus.

Why is Energize not fortified with Vitamins C & E (antioxidants)?
Concentrated levels of antioxidant vitamins like C & E impede adaptation if taken near a workout.

Why is adaptation to exercise important?
New exercise causes changes important to the progress of muscles, bones, and the cardiovascular system.

What causes the bright yellow color in Energize and Hydrate?
The ingredient quercetin (a natural phytonutrient present in fruits & vegetables) causes the yellow color.

What does the yellow color indicate?
Yellow indicates high purity & potency in quercetin; Beachbody uses the highest quality in the industry.

Is the beet sugar in Energize GMO-free?
PCR analysis testing by the supplier for the presence of GMO DNA showed no measurable GMO DNA.

Will Energize replace E&E? Will E&E be discontinued?
There are no current plans to discontinue E&E.

For information on the E&E pre-workout drink see New Energy and Endurance Drink

My part in your Success

Tammy and I are in Week 5 of P90X3 and today was Triometrics. One of the nice things I like about P90X3 is that I often do not remember what to expect. Even with Tony Horton giving his usually breaks as he chats between moves, it gave him a good sweat by the end.

Before a workout I often think of you. Some of you are succeeding and I really encourage you to send me a message about what you have accomplished. It would be of great encouragement to me. Yet some of you may have continued to put it off and to put it bluntly have fallen short of what you know you want for yourself. I really wish I had the perfect words to get you going again. I know all too well that it is not about me and you have to be ready for the change. While I do want to do all that I can for you, I am asking you to take the step and reach out.

I have been excited to see all the nutritional help Tammy (my wife) has been able to give to others through her Facebook page and encourage you to "friend" her and tell her Jay sent you. Our Facebook accounts are here: Jay and Tammy.

So I am asking for a Call to Action. If you are continuing to Reverse the Trend and have had positive changes in your life I want to hear about it. If you are still hesitating, you need to step out and contact me about how we can get you going. Lastly, if you are going strong or are ready to make a new commitment, here are this month's Team Beachbody specials below.

Is it worth the effort?

Pomegranates are an intriguing fruit. I probably have only had them six times in my life and yes it was always a struggle. Then I saw this video of a farmer cutting one open
Opening a Pomegranate (1:26 minute Video)

I thought, "I've been doing it all wrong, I'm ready to do this!" So since we had a pomegranate from our CSA box (Community Supported Agriculture), I set out to harvest the pomegranate fruit.

Well, the steps are shown below, it was a lot of work.

Harvesting the seeds
Run seeds through blender and mesh
It is full of vitamins and a whole food. but ...

I wanted to quit many times but I stuck through and I succeeded...I got pomegranate juice (less than a cup). Was it worth it for me? I'd have to say no. Will I do it again? probably not. (Side note: I saw additional methods that "whack" the pomegranate after opening it... yes I was ready to whack it at the end.)

Yet, the whole experience reminded me of how many people who buy a Beachbody fitness program might feel.
They, for some time have been intrigued with fitness, but have struggled with getting it to work. Then they saw an ad of one of the Beachbody products (P90, P90X, Insanity, T25, PiYo, 21-day Fix or possible Brazil Butt lift.) The add made it look easy. So program was purchased. Unfortunately, many people do not see it through to the end. While I saw the pomegranate through to the end,  it wasn't worth it to me, I am convinced of and found that those like myself that commit to any of the Beachbody programs, all the way to the end, find it a worthwhile investment.

Have and follow a plan

This week our Focus T25 routine had Total Body Circuit ,twice, which is the hardest for me in the Alpha series. I would not have chose to do this routine twice in one week. And that is why I need a program to follow. As tough as I like to think I am, when it is up to me, I (while not always) would choose an easier way. How about you? Do you have a plan, a trainer that pushes you? How do you go beyond what you think you are able?

Here is a video (Happy Healthy Holidays!) about how to make a plan for the Holidays. So are you giving your fitness plan the best you can? Is it working? Give me your testimony, so that I can send it to the many others that would be encouraged with your efforts.

Coach's Corner 6/28/14

I just can't do that anymore

I spoke of resolutions and resolve in my last blog post (Resolve vs. Resolution). What about the word resignation? As we age the tendency is to give up and resign ourselves to some of the new patterns that are driven by some aches here and a little pain there. We say, "I just can't do that anymore." Am I expecting all those in their 40's and 50's to do Insanity? No, but we need to stay active doing something for out heart, lungs, muscles and skeletal frame work. Resignation is a slippery slope as we age. I desire to help as many people as possible with the "I can't" places they are experiencing.  Starting with even minor activity can begin to reverse the trend and you will soon be saying "I can do it!"

Men and Women of Purpose

Tammy and I have been talking a lot lately about our motivations and purposes for ourselves, our family and our customers.  We are both intense individuals driven by our desires. I was not always that way.  7 years ago I was on a path to resignation with back pain, low energy and a lack of commitment to my physical well being.  It took a P90X infomercial to wake me up and change my resignation to commitment and purpose.  My fitness commitment was the spark to more purposeful eating and living. We are looking to join with others for mutual accountability.  The link below will direct you to our recent video about our upcoming accountability groups.

Accountability for a Life of Purpose

What is PiYo?

PiYo is Beachbody's most recent fitness Program.  It is a low-impact program that uses your own body weight to build strength.  The program also includes cardio, stretching, yoga and pilates.  The creator of PiYo, Chalene Johnson, says that as we age we get less flexible and PiYo can help.  We will be doing PiYo in August and September after we complete a 3rd month of INSANITY.  If you think you want to give it a try purchase it this month for a deep discount.

Coach's Corner 5/1/14

How's your fitness going? It is going on 7 years since Tammy and I found Beachbody. I am stronger in my late 40's then I was in my late 30's. Tammy and I started the year with a round of P90X3. It is a great starter and/or maintenance program in only 30-minutes a day. After a 1-week break we started a 60-day round of Insanity (we last did a complete 60-days back in April 2010). We are in week 2 and I can just say "Dig Deeper". Here is a little video from Tammy's Facebook page Triceps work. We are still eating a plant based diet and drinking Shakeology for our nutrition.

Resolve vs. Resolution
It's been many months since we all made New Year's resolutions. We make resolutions as a goal to be somewhere or someone different in the future. Resolve is the action that you take in the present to meet that resolution. Resolve is steps taken each day to make your goal a reality.  May is here. Is it time for some "Mid Year" resolve?
When it is early in the morning or late in the day and you have no time to work out, what do you do? How about resolving to put forth action and push play. When making healthy food choices it will cost you extra time and money, but you will resolve to eat healthy. When you have missed a workout or had a day of treats, this is when you tap into some of that resolve and set yourself right back on track. Resolve, and then resolve some more, your future is worth it.

Tips To Having Resolve:
  • Take the step to connect with your FREE coach (Me). Yes, be accountable it can make the difference. See the Facebook connection to Tammy and I below.
  • Clean out the junk food - you know what foods I'm talking about. Even baby steps are better than no steps at all.
  • Plan your nutrition - Tammy and I are always reminding each other that good food is our fuel. Use your Beachbody program guide. Like the step of cleaning out the junk food you need a specific plan with you nutrition, you need to eat consciously. A good tool to assist in getting started balancing proper foods and portions would be the 21-day fix and don't forget the benefits of Shakeology Here I Spotlighting most of the 70 ingredients in Shakeology
  • Have a fitness plan - follow a Beachbody program 30, 60 or 90 days check the days off the calendar. I am only successful when I have a plan laid out. Below is also a link for some free workout routines.
  • Start your workout whether it be a DVD, walking, or jogging, even if you don't feel like it. Start out with the idea of doing just 10 minutes. The pet slogan of,  "just do it" works.  If you "just do it" more likely than not, you will finish and feel great.
Many of you I think may be like me. I am not the type that makes resolutions but someone that knows I can be a better me and need some resolve to make that change. I encourage you to message me and we'll find you some tools that can help you be a better you. You can't finish if you don't start. I look forward to hearing from you.

Never Give up

I will end this post with a special shout-out to those that commit to bettering their health and nutrition. As Arthur, the star in the inspirational video below, says, "it is a simple but frightening message, that is, that you can do it. It's very easy to NOT do it, to say you can't. Then, you can very easily retreat back into inability, retreat back into fear, back into lack of control ..."
I know it is not easy, but you have a choice. It took this gentleman the discipline to continue even when he did not believe in himself. He continued to work hard and it was only after much failure that he even started to believe that it could happen.
Never, Ever Give Up. Arthur's Inspirational Transformation!

Coach's Corner 11/22/13

We are long overdue for an update of how Tammy and I are doing. As the fall leaves were in full color we had the opportunity to have a two-week vacation away from our children. All four of the children  had a great time staying with grandparents. Tammy and I soaked up each day without parental responsibilities, it was a refreshing break, unlike anything we had experienced since becoming parents 11 years ago. Now back, it seems like it all may have been a dream, but we did learn to live in the moment and truly enjoy the days, because they are fleeting.

While on vacation we finished Focus T25, Beta phase. Not having any other life responsibilities (and that the routines are only 25-min) made it almost easy to workout while on "vacation" and it did make treating ourselves to special meals even more enjoyable.

Making decisions that affect the years to come. Staying Consistent in a good way.

It was back in 2007 that I stumbled upon Beachbody and P90X. It was the year I was turning 40 and for the previous 5-6 years I had been consistent in basically doing nothing for my physical health. I was on cruise control and really going nowhere. I can say looking back that I am so happy to have had a quality program like P90X to challenge my limits and build a physically fit body. If  you want to see my progress pictures got to Reverse the Trend Support.

Now, over six years later it is still Beachbody  that keeps me on track and moving forward in my health and fitness.  I also owe a good part of this consistency to my decision to be a Coach. The added accountability of "being a product of the product" and the opportunity of encouraging others in fitness has made the difference. If you have had results from a Beachbody program and are ready to continue the journey and pay it forward I want you to join our team and become a coach.  We need you as the new year approaches because many will be looking to make a change in their fitness and nutrition.  Contact us through this post to find out how to encourage others on the road to good health.

Others may still be taking those first steps in "reversing the trend" and I recommend that you connect with Tammy or me for support and join a challenge group for personal accountability as well as nutrition and fitness coaching. Remember to join a group is FREE, all you need is a Beachbody program, Shakeology and a heart to change.

November Promotion

I like this promotion, partly because I see myself and Tammy at minute 0:18 but mostly because it will be helping feed many hungry people. Another win-win.

Coach's Corner - 9/14/13

Challenges - Stepping Stone or Roadblock

I have been thinking about problems, Challenges, set-back, and excuses. We all have them.

We all face circumstances that seem to not go our way or have reasons why we cannot reach our goals and be the person we want to be. How are you viewing your challenges? To have success in facing many of life's "issues" is to face them and turn them from stumbling block into stepping stones. Below is a picture of the last obstacle in Tough Mudder that Tammy and I participated in this summer. (Get through a mud hole that has dangling electric wires, why...because it was a challenge)

Last Sunday at church we studied James 1:1-4 and I learned that the place to begin is to appreciate your trials. Not just trials we put ourselves in like having to run through dangling electric wires or your morning workout, but the challenges that seem to be out of our control. We need to learn to embrace and remain under the trials. True beauty and a new strength can be born from us facing our struggles.
How are you being strengthened? Let us gain endurance together.

Getting "Back at IT!"
Tammy and I took the family to Yosemite for a 3-night camping trip. Besides being a beautiful place there is something renewing about getting out and away from the routine and regimented tasks at home. However, our trip almost did not happen, due to me (Jay) getting some kind of stomach bug Sunday afternoon. But by Tuesday morning I was ready to pack the minivan as tight as possible and hit the road.

So after completing the Alpha phase of FOCUS T25 we took a  rest week knowing the Beta schedule is waiting to bring us back into the routine. Rest weeks can be helpful and sometimes necessary, but it is good to have a way out of the break (i.e. have a workout schedule waiting for you), before just one more day of rest leads to two and you know the slippery slope. It is time to start again, how would you encourage me?

Challenge Yourself
Tammy and I are regular Shakeology drinkers and in an effort to encourage others to add this dense dose of nutrition into their diet without the excuse of "it costs too much," we are offering a 7 day challenge.  The Challenge is $35 plus shipping and includes seven servings of Shakeology, an online plant based meal plan and access to our personal Facebook coaching page.  If you feel like you need a boost of motivation to refocus your health priorities join us the week of September 30th. Send us an email to be included in this opportunity.

Each of us needs to find our own reason, strength and motivation within ourselves, but I want to know what you are doing right now to better yourself for tomorrow, to grow your inner person and to promote fitness in your life. Reading your testimonies about making fitness a priority will help push Tammy and I through the next 5-weeks of the T25 Beta phase. I want to hear from you. I'll be pressing play every morning, are you there with me...?

Jay

In the Now

How is your summer going? We have had so much planned in the summer that it is good to take time to take a breath and remember to enjoy life in the moment. It is easy for me to say, but often difficult for me to live. Last weekend at our church service our Pastor shared this saying. "If you are not where you are, you are nowhere." Be present.

Too Much information

I often error heavily on the side of giving too much information. I think that is just part of being an engineer. My hope is to bring you tips and support that you will actually read. How am I doing in helping you? Without making this post even longer I want to share some links to past Team Beachbody Newsletters.

FOCUS T25 Challenge Pack Discount

In the month of July, 25,000 people, just like you and me, chose to do whatever part they could to end the trend of obesity and became Team Beachbody coaches. This excitement is mostly due to the FOCUS T25 workout and the new Vanilla Shakeology. So, in hope of seeing more lives changed the discounted pricing on the T25 Challenge pack is back until August 31st. Many of you are in the middle of your current program, stay the course. However, in order to save money and keep your fitness journey moving purchase T25 this month.

Along with FOCUS T25, the month of August has two other workout programs discounted as a Challenge pack. A Challenge Pack is a workout program + Shakeology.

People Like "That"

I will end this post with a statement made from the ToughMudder starter. He said, "I like you 'Mudders', because you are the kind of people that put your shopping carts back in the designated shopping cart area."
I think about this often. I go the "Extra Mile," that really is being the best I can be.

Coach's Corner 7/29/13

Tammy and I have been both reading and watching John Maxwell on YouTube.  John Maxwell is a motivational teacher and teaches corporations, businesses and individuals how to be better leaders.  In one of his videos John stated:

It only takes 14-days for someone to forget a commitment.

In our current Challenge Group we are on day 14.  Tammy and I are in it to win it. Are you keeping the fight? Staying with your commitments?

While each Challenge group will have a strong focus on nutrition, we have really centered on needing clean eating to fuel our bodies during this past few weeks. I am excited to hit the ground running with the many participants that will be joining us Aug. 5th for FOCUS T25. We are posting videos in the challenge group and sharing recipes and tips. Here are some breakfast clean eating ideas:

Our Favorite Fruit bowl - the origins are from a recipe in the book "Thrive". This time it is banana, apple, flax (ground our own), cacao, ginger, pecans (or slivered almonds), plant protein and cashew milk. It place of cacao & plant protein, I often use the Chocolate Shakeology. The Vanilla Shakeology is also a nice way to switch it up as well as working with the seasonal fruit available like nectarines, cherries & strawberries.

Cooked steel cut oats with pumpkin, topped with raisins, pecans, coconut & maple syrup. I omit the coconut and like dates in place of raisins or both.

Really surprised about how much I liked this. Here is a recipe for a  Thai-Inspired Hydrating Cucumber Salad with Roasted Spiced Chickpeas

I like having a Plan

After Tammy and I finished the Tough Mudder, it was time for a workout break. I took a week off from our routine exercise, during that week I did think a lot about doing at least  Abs Core Plus from P90X +. Well guess what, just thinking about it did not get it done. On July 22 I actually put in the DVD and "pressed play", good intentions realized. I am doing well but without a real plan it is more of a struggle. I don't know about you, but it makes a big difference for me to have a routine or a plan to commit to, instead of just "winging it". How are you doing? ... do you have a PLAN? As hard as it sometimes is to start, I am really looking forward to the round of T25 on Aug 5th.

I want to know how you are doing.  Take some time within the next 24 hours to send me an update. Thanks for the accountability everyone.

Ready to Take the First Step?

Team Beachbody Summit

I recapped Day 1 & 2  previously. Day three started with the Super Workout. All 7,000 of us packed out the MGM back lot to workout with all the trainers.

Workout with 7000 excited people
The final evening was filled with inspirational stories (Stuart Scott Receives The 1st Ever Beachbody Challenge Inspiration Award ) and capped off with the announcement of the Grand prize winners (see links below). While it saddens me that circumstances will take people into places where they are not taking care of themselves, I am always blown away by what people can achieve as they push past their "circumstances". Actually, it is not only about the amazing testimonies of the 100 or 200 lb weight losses, but it is equally inspiring to talk to those with less shocking transformations. The same holds true for them, they are pushing past obstacles and becoming better husbands, wives, sons & daughters. Actually, Tammy and I met a couple in their 60's that have gone through the Insanity program twice. There are so many moms & dads just wanting to be good role models for their children and succeeding.

I was glad to see, after enormous growth, that Beachbody still holds true to their mission, "Helping others live a healthy and more fulfilling life." It is rewarding to see so many "ordinary" people changing their lives and paying it forward.
Beachbody Challenge $100K Grand Prize Winner Andy Arreaga
Beachbody Challenge $100K Grand Prize Winner Jessica Weiderhold

I was able to get to talk with  the Co-Creator of Shakeology, Darin Olien.

Connecting for the support we all need

When I get the opportunity to speak to those I coach, their determination does a lot to also keep me on track. Yet I often here, "I haven't really started yet," followed with reasons or they just can't take that first step. Tammy and I are starting Challenge groups every month. Tammy said it so well on here blog post (A Challenge Just for You! ). We would enjoy talking with you about committing to the group, send me an email message back or text me at 530-913-8522.

New Product Reviews

We still really enjoy New Vanilla Shakeology. I like all the flavors, our children had been finding Greenberry to be their favorite. I served them the Revised Greenberry this morning, and as it is true with some change, they may like the original better. We will see what time will tell. I know of many that never liked the original have liked the new revised Greenberry formula. It is does have a bit more of that "berry-ness" about it.

On the fitness front, Tammy and I have looked over the Focus T25 program. We sampled the first routine this week and mad e a little review of it here.

Coach's Corner - 6/21/13 Summit 2013; Day 1& 2

Day 1

Well Tammy and I are in Las Vegas again this year for the Team Beachbody Coach Summit.
To open the General Session, Carl Daikeler (C.E.O.) came flying in on wires. He is the kind of nut that I aspire to be like. Last year he checked off his "bucket list" by opening the sessions with shooting T-Shirts into the crowd (Carl's Bucket list). He joked after that he should have thought with more detail about shooting Black T-shirts into a dark room at high speed.

One of the next great Beachbody products is FOCUS T25. I will have a new Video clip about the routine soon.It may be a great routine to begin this July 1st in our Beachbody Challenge Group. We have found that many need a "kick-in-the-posterior" and some more accountability to get success. If you have a product and have not started, you and I both need to join the Challenge.

The next new product was a total surprise to me, Vanilla Shakeology.

I really thought that it could not be done especially after the original attempt. So proud of Beachbody for their integrity with their products. I  mixed some up in the hotel room with our immersion blender with just ice & water. I liked it a lot. Then we mixed it with some almond milk. It is my new favorite. It is so nice to have another flavor and great that it is a good base for add-ins.

Day 2 -

Started the morning with COMBAT workout with Dan & Rach. It is amazing to workout with thousands of other people. After finishing a round of COMBAT in March, it was neat to do a Live workout with the trainers. Then we were gluttons for punishment and went to workout with Tony Horton. Awesome as usual. We are having a great time

Coach's Corner 5/28/13

It has been 2 months since my last Corner post.

Tammy and I are still in the middle of our P90X/Insanity/Combat hybrid. I scheduled most of it out in advance, which is good because I have noticed when it is not as scheduled it is tough to do the "extra" hard workouts. We are doing well in week 9. Today during the Plyometric routine I thought of how Tony says, "You can do anything for 30-seconds". First, I thought of course I can, then I thought about many that truly may not be able to last during the routine. It is not that they CAN'T they just "presently struggle with". So, let's say you struggle, that is okay. It is about doing your best (you know your best) and forgetting the rest. The important part is showing up and at least giving it an effort.
It is hard to improve if you never start.

Older, but Better

Tammy turned the big 4-0 since my last post.

We had a great time at the Zoo and a theme park based on old story books ( as parents honestly our enjoyment is seeing our children have a good time.)

We also had dessert at the Cheesecake Factory,

spent the night in a hotel with a pool (more fun with the kids) then the next day enjoyed an Afternoon Tea. It was a good time for all.

We are looking forward to the Annual Team Beachbody Coach Summit in mid June. It is always great to get to workout with the trainers live and to learn all that Beachbody has in store for the next year. We do know that FOCUS T25 - will be ready this summer ready to help people that want to see change, but only have a short amount of time. Tammy and I are getting excited about this. Contact either of us and we will get you set up with the best price as well as the accountability to help you get the best results!

Beachbody Challenge

Did you see the winners from the month of April? While it is upsetting to see how unfit our nation is getting, I am so grateful for those that are making a change. Now here are the Grand finalists for the $100,000. I know they seem like unique people and they are, but I have seen so many succeed with simple (but not easy) solutions. But here is the honest truth, the majority of people have given up and think they cannot get their life back. It is sad. Please be someone that wants to GO FOR IT! Grab a-hold of LIFE.

I am only a phone call, text or email away. tell me how you are doing.

Coach's Corner 3/28/13

My Success is Lasting Change

Tammy and I are currently on a rest week. We just completed 60-days of Les Mills COMBAT and will now be waiting for our free T-shirts. It was a fun time doing Combat and it turned out to be a great maintenance program for us. We started the routine doing the “Warrior” basic program, but at week 5 we wanted more so we switch to the “Ultimate Warrior Hybrid” routine. The more advanced upper & lower body workouts were a bit more like the other “extreme” programs like P90X and Insanity. Now during this time of rest I am looking back over not just the past 60-days, but the past 6 years. What does my success look like? You know… Decide, Commit, Succeed. Some of you know my Journey began late one night back in Nov. 2007. Comforting a newborn late at night I stumbled on a P90X commercial. It was the challenge I needed.

Baby Kensley
I was turning 40 soon and had lost much of my “zing” in life. I was starting to hurt myself trying to be the athlete that I no longer was. Fast forward 6-plus years and I would say that my success was not in pounds lost or even body fat change (although it went from near 20% to 6%), but the success of having stuck with it. I like to say, I Reversed the Trend. I am well into my 40’s and not “Over the Hill” on a coast downward but “Charging the Hill”. So we all measure success in different ways, but I have been very grateful to have found something like Team Beachbody to continue to push and challenge me in both my nutrition and fitness. I do feel like I have come so far. My prayer is that you are also on a similar journey.

Tony Time

Come April 1st it will be back to P90X. We may toss in some Insanity for cardio substitutions every so often, but it will be mostly Tony Horton until July. I like Tony (enough to listen to his jokes over and over) and honestly someday hope we can go skiing together. Along with the workouts we will be looking into Going Vegan, P90X® Style. Our nutrition since the Ultimate Reset in October is still very much plant-based. It has been working for us. Tony has a good article Flexitarian- WHAT DIET IS RIGHT FOR YOU? Lastly on the Tony front, here is The Bring It Minute with Tony Horton to check out.

If you want to join Tammy and I on April 1st with P90X or any other workout we are having people join a closed Facebook group each month as part of the “Beachbody Challenge”. If you want to step up and join us message my or find me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/jaybbcoach

March Challenge Pack Discount

There are still a few days left in March for the P90X & P90X2 discounts. The pack is Fitness + Nutrition + Support = Success. You receive the P90X or P90X2 fitness program, one of four Shakeology flavors, and a free 30-day trial membership to the Team Beachbody Club. The reduced price is from $205 to $180.

Here are the Links – P90X or P90X2

The Ultimate Reset is also discounted in March by $30. You can reply to me to discuss it this is for you and the different ordering options.

Grand-fathered in

It is time to get locked in on the pricing of the Chocolate and Greenberry Shakeology before the increase on April 1, 2013. Shakeology is increasing by .33 cents a day for the original flavors (Which will match the current pricing of the vegan formulas). When we launched Shakeology gas prices were less than $2... We are paying $4.50 now.. Gas increased 125% and that impacts every raw ingredient price and has resulted in annual shipping rate increases -- but Shakeology's price only increased 8.33% during that same period of time. Good news is that if you on HD now or have an HD order placed before April 1st you are locked in on the current price for life. HD (Home-Direct) orders also get free shipping and handling and can be set on a monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or even semi-annual shipping schedule and also altered anytime. It is only the flavor that has to remain either Chocolate or Greenberry to keep the pricing in tacked. Also the 30-day empty bag money back guarantee still applies. So place order before April 1st even for an order that does not even start shipping until June. Contact me for details.
