First off most of you may not know that have the “Follow the Bright
light” disease. And oh there are often so many bright shinny things around. I
really am often paralyzed wondering if I should fish or cut bait. And most
often try to juggle all things and get nothing complete. As I type I think I
may complete this post this time. Focus, Jay.
Doing P90X in “Lego City”
As Tammy and I prepare for the Tough Mudder (Check out the Obstacles)
on Sept. 23, we have been doing P90X and are on week 7. The first 6-weeks our
oldest son had built a Lego City over about half the floor area where we workout.
It was a great design, but it was growing. It was removed last week and he is
happily on to new adventures. While it is nice to have the space back it does not
make P90X any easier, yet with all the Pull-ups and strength work it will pay off
in the Mudder. Just yesterday we purchased some fingerless gloves and some
water-wicking clothing. We hope to maybe have a friend take some pictures.
Nutrition –
Processed; how much is too much
Saw a friend post about Butter being better than Margarine. I was
hoping that by now this was pretty well known, but many are still buying what I
call Franken-foods that man has made to "Substitute" for the less
processed foods that are from days of old. Although we wish we could churn our
own, most butter in moderation is way better than over processed substitutes.
I have also been thinking
more on the heavily processed Canola Oil. There are many urban legends about its
dangers, but all in all it looks much too "factory made" for me (see How It's Made - Canola Oil). I am weary to eat something that is produced by
means of Solvents & Bleaching agents.
Researching diet and getting our nutrients from whole Foods –
great story of Dr.
Terry Wahls learned how to properly fuel her body. Using the lessons she
learned at the subcellular level, she used diet to cure her MS and get out of
her wheelchair. TEDxIowaCity - Dr. Terry
Wahls - Minding Your Mitochondria. Most Americans eat more than enough calories,
but we are starving of basic nutrients.
So much information, what do
we do?
Heading down the path of nutritional
information can be daunting and depressing. We all have time to learn, but it
is hard to “make” the time; even with the above link about “Minding Your
Mitochondria”, were do we get 17-minutes.So do I overwhelm you? Hope you can
find some of it interesting. I do want to share a Univ. of CA (UCTV) series called
The Skinny on Obesity. There
seems to be 7-episodes (about 7-12 minutes each). Here is a link to The Skinny on Obesity (Ep.
1): An Epidemic for Every Body. I’ll wait until next time to share info
about 12 great food documentaries.
Kitchen: Always room for
improvement (And I do not mean needing
a new sink and Cabinets)
While our family does not have the average
American diet, and we eat “healthily” we are excited to see what we can learn
about our nutrition as we go through the 21-day Ultimate Reset. The reset is
designed to balance body chemistry, remove toxins & reset digestion. It
will comprise of learning new recipes (DVD cooking class), where the last week
it is Vegan and consuming Supplements of:
Alkalinize - A super-green mixture

out getting distracted!
